India Striving To Form World's Best Counter-Terror Force: Home Minister
For years, India has borne the brunt of cross-border terrorism. The country is now trying to boost its police forces with modern technologies, making them the finest on the planet
Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the South Asian country was striving to make its police forces the world's best in dealing with incidents related to terrorism.
"Keeping the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, we have not only made strict laws, but by setting up the Police Technology Mission, it is our effort to become the best force against terrorism," Amit Shah said at a public event in Delhi.
Shah also pointed out that the world's largest democratic nation has witnessed a significant dip in terrorist attacks this year.
He highlighted that compared with last year's statistics, terror-related incidents have reduced by 65 percent this year. This data includes the figures from the country's volatile Kashmir and North East regions.
"Our soldiers have succeeded in keeping the situation normal at these places," Shah added.
The minister praised India's police, underlining that the job of cops was one of the toughest in the country.
"In any nation, border security or internal security is not possible without an alert police force. I have observed that police duty is the toughest among all the people serving the country. Whether it is terrorism, crime or huge crowds, police have always been there to secure the lives of the common people. The police of our nation has always proved itself on every point," Shah concluded.
