SHILLONG: The Eastern Air Command (EAC) is set to conduct its annual Command-level exercise, named “Ex Poorvi Akash,” scheduled to take place from October 30, to November 5 an exercise designed to showcase the application of Air Power in all its dimensions and will be executed both during the day and night.

The key feature of “Ex Poorvi Akash” is the integration of joint operations with the Eastern Command (EC) of the Indian Army in the formidable and challenging mountainous terrains of the region which will encompass the activation of the entire Eastern Sector, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to military readiness and coordination.

One noteworthy aspect of this exercise is the participation of the special forces of the Indian Air Force, known as the “Garud.” These elite forces will engage in executing special missions in conjunction with the Special Forces (SF) of the Indian Army. Their involvement adds a layer of complexity and depth to the exercise, emphasizing the critical role of specialized units in modern warfare scenarios.

“Ex Poorvi Akash” will also see the deployment of Air Defence assets from both the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
