Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat attended an event at Centre for Air Power Studies in Delhi on February 28, where he said that the credible deterrence comes from the will of the military leadership and intent of political leadership to take the right decision at the right time.

General Rawat said, “If we have to be prepared for the tasks assigned to us then it's important we maintain credible deterrence at land, air and sea at all times. Deterrence comes from keeping every personnel trained and motivated.

The credible deterrence comes from the will of the military leadership and intent of political leadership to take the right decision at the right time. This was amply shown post Kargil, post Uri attacks and subsequently post Pulwama attack. The message (of Balakot) was very clear that the kind of proxy war perpetrated on our people will not be tolerated.”
