Muzaffarabad: In a desperate bid to ward off Indian interests, Pakistan has changed the name of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) from 'Azad Kashmir' to Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services. It is being reported that the status quo of the region is likely to be affected following its name change.

According to a circular issued by 'Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir Services' and General Administration Department (Regulations), the President of 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir' ordered the renaming of 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir Management Group' to Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) with immediate effect.

The speculation is rife that Pakistan PM Imran Khan is mulling over integrating PoK, which is legally an Indian territory, to Pakistan by making it the fifth province of the country. While provinces in Pakistan have governors and chief ministers, PoK always had a separate president and a prime minister.

But with the renaming of the territory, it can soon change. Even the current 'Prime Minister of PoK' Farooq Haider Khan had claimed a couple of days ago that he could be the last 'Prime Minister' of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
