Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso on Tuesday advised Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to control emotions and adopt a realistic approach for peace in the region. Dalai Lama slammed Imran Khan and other Pakistan separatist leaders and asked them to think beyond emotions.
Dalai Lama praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the call to unite people and countries against terrorism.
"There is a difference between Indian and Pakistani Prime Minister's speech at the UN [United Nations]. Indian prime prime minister talks about peace and you know what his Pakistan counterpart said. Getting China's political support is Pakistan's compulsion. But Pakistan also needs India. Pakistani leaders should calm down and think beyond emotions and should follow a realistic approach," Dalai Lama said.
The Tibetan spiritual leader said that US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from the troubled Syria will also cost dear to humanity following the Turkish invasion in Northern Syria. Dalai Lama has also advised the US president to not to be carried away by the emotions.
"Not only Pakistan but the US president is also too much emotional. Look At Syria, he [Trump] withdrew soldiers... That opportunity was taken by the president of Turkey [Recep Tayyip Erdogan]. Very sad," Dalai Lama said.
Speaking on the Indo-China relations Dalai Lama said that it was good for two leading economies but young Chinese should also learn the meaning of democracy from India.
"A dialogue between India and China on bilateral ties is very important. China needs India and India needs China to boost each others economies. I wish India should take more Chinese students and should teach them the meaning of democracy. Some Chinese students who study abroad in America, Australia, Japan, Europe on number of occasions told me that when they were in China they heard Dalai Lama was orthodox and when they attended my talks they said I was not orthodox," Dalai Lama said.
Dalai Lama refused to comment on the construction of Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya saying, "I have never been to Ayodhya... So I don't know."
Dalai Lama was in Chandigarh to take part in a seminar titled 'Secular Ethics in Modern Education In the context of Guru Nanak Dev Ji' organised by Chandigarh University.
