PM Modi Slams Cong For Shutting Tejas
Crediting the BJP government for modernisation of the security forces, PM Narendra Modi slammed the Congress government for shutting Tejas aircraft in a box. Sirsa: Making strong pitch modernisation of security forces, for PM Narendra Modi said that after the BJP government came to power it initiated a mission to strengthen the forces. Slamming the Congress, the PM accused the UPA government of shutting India's Light Combat Aircraft Tejas in a box adding that the NDA government revived the program and today it is ready to serve the Air Force and the Indian Navy.
“Today, advanced submarines to advanced fighter aircraft like Rafale, they are part of our forces,” the PM said.
Addressing a public rally in Maharashtra's Satara earlier, PM Modi had said that in the last 5 years, the BJP government brought the armed forces at par with the armed forces of other countries.
“Be it Army, Navy or Air Force, modern weapons are a part of our armed forces today,” he had said.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while being in France, had said that the Rafale deal was possible due to the decisiveness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India entered into an inter-governmental agreement with France and Dassault to acquire 36 Rafale jets in flyaway condition at a cost of Rs 59,000 crore. The first four Rafale jets are set to arrive in India by May 2020.
After coming to power with a thumping majority, PM Narendra Modi-led BJP government purchased weapons systems and missiles worth Rs 8,500 crore. The acquisitions were done by the Ministry of Defence for the Air Force and the Indian Army in the first 50 days of the Modi 2.0 government with several other deals also in the pipeline.
