India Integrates MBDA-Designed Mistral And ASRAAM Missiles
India will perform final assembly, integration and test of MBDA-designed Mistral and ASRAAM missiles
MBDA signs agreement with Bharat Dynamics Limited of India for the final assembly, integration and test of Mistral and ASRAAM missiles in India.
On September 12, MBDA and Bharat Dynamics (BDL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at DSEI in London. This agreement is about the final assembly, integration and test of Mistral and ASRAAM missiles in India. As a major Indian weapon systems integrator, BDL supplies domestic and foreign customers. This MoU marks another milestone for the ever more fashion “Make in India”, where over 50,000 MBDA-designed missiles have already been manufactured, as underlines George Kyriakides, Director of International Industrial Co-operation at MBDA.
ASRAAM is one of the new generation close combat missile used in India. The IAF’s Jaguar aircraft are the first Indian platform to receive this air-combat missile. Mistral, for its part, has been offered to the Indian armed forces to meet their VSHORAD requirement. Working with Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), integration of the Mistral ATAM system on the Dhruv helicopter and the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) has been successfully completed.
