These Are Proud Members of Indian Army: Defence Min Rajnath Singh Responds To Rahul Gandhi's 'New India' Jibe
Rahul Gandhi mocked a photo of the Indian Army's Dog Unit's canine members participating in Yoga day celebrations by captioning it ‘New India' on Friday. The tweet drew heavy criticism online
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slammed the Congress party after its president Rahul Gandhi mocked Army’s Dog Unit over a photograph in which the canines were captured participating in the International Yoga Day celebrations.
Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, captioned the photo – ‘New India’, after which he was pulled up by Twitterati for his negativism around the spectacular act in which canines were clicked in a Yoga pose along with the Indian Army soldiers.
“Congress stands for negativity. Today, their negativity was seen in their clear support to the medieval practice of Triple Talaq. Now, they mock Yoga Day and insult our forces (yet again!). Hoping the spirit of positivity will prevail. It can help overcome toughest challenges,” Shah tweeted.
Shortly after Union Minister Rajnath Singh in a statement on Twitter replied to Rahul’s statement stating, “With due respect to you, Rahul Gandhi Ji, these are proud members of the Indian Army and they contribute to the safety of our nation”
Rahul Gandhi’s tweet did not go down well with netizens who said the Congress president “insulted” the Indian Army, the Yoga tradition and the country.
"Ok. He still hasn't learnt his lessons. In one go, he has insulted our Army, brave Jawans, the incredible dog unit, Yoga tradition & our country. I feel really sad for all the young Congress workers (if there are any left) that they have to deal with this man as their leader," said one Twitter user Surya.
Many users tweeted photographs of Yoga Day celebrations from across the globe, while others mocked the Congress party for its ignorance towards the day.
June 21 is being celebrated as “International Day of Yoga 2019”, the world over. From PM Narendra Modi to all Union Ministers and various members of Indian diplomatic missions globally marked the day by stretching out their Yoga mats on Friday.
