Jaishankar Has Done Good To Sino-India Ties: China
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said as India's top diplomat and envoy to China, Jaishankar "made positive contributions to the development of Sino-Indian relations"
BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has congratulated Indian's new External Minister S. Jaishankar and said New Delhi's former envoy to Beijing has done good to Sino-India ties.
In a late Friday night statement to IANS, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Wang had sent a congratulatory message to Jaishankar who was surprisingly inducted as the Foreign Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new government.
Jaishankar has also served as India's Foreign Secretary, the country's top diplomatic post.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said as India's top diplomat and envoy to China, Jaishankar "made positive contributions to the development of Sino-Indian relations".
"China is willing to work with India to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries and promote new progress in China-India relations and pragmatic cooperation in various fields to better serve the two peoples."
Mandarin speaker, Jaishankar served as India's envoy to Beijing from 2009 to 2013.
He is said to have played an instrumental role in resolving the military stand-off between both the countries in Doklam in 2017.
