The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has made an additional amendment to its Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) to include guidelines to support the nomination of shipyards to undertake naval construction and repair work.

The amendment to the DPP was outlined in a notice published by the MoD on 22 April and relates to 'Capacity Assessment Guidelines for Indian Shipyards'.

The requirement for the guidelines was outlined in the current version of the DPP, published in 2016 and last updated earlier this year, which stated that such an assessment was required to guide decisions on the nomination of shipyards for defence projects.
