Navy Sailor Dies After Being Injured During Weapon Firing Drill Onboard INS Gomati
A Navy sailor sustained serious injuries during weapon firing drill onboard INS Gomati and succumbed to his injuries
New Delhi: A 21-year-old Navy sailor, from Tamil Nadu, died after being seriously injured during weapon firing drill onboard INS Gomati off Mumbai coast, an official statement said Thursday.
Mohan Raj, Seaman First Class, suffered a grave injury while carrying out "combat weapon firing drills at sea", a Navy statement said. As per the statement issued by the Indian Navy, Raj was airlifted to naval hospital INHS Aswini here but succumbed to the injuries.
An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident. Raj hailed from Katpudi, Tamil Nadu and is survived by parents and two siblings, the statement said.
