The firing results in leading a number of casualties to Pak troops, a defence official said.

The defence PRO said, “The Indian Army retaliated for effect and our focused fire resulted in severe destruction to five posts and number of casualties to Pakistan army (along LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts)”.

The firing took place from 6:30 pm onward when the Pakistan army instigated motiveless ceasefire violation by shooting with heavy calibre weaponry along the LoC out of frustration, he said.

The troops of Pakistan were also seen firing mortars and missiles from non-combatant houses, using residents as human defences.

On the other hand, the Indian Army aimed the Pakistan posts away from civilian ranges, the PRO said. He further added that this bring about in a “number of casualties” to Pak troopers.

Five soldiers of the Indian Army suffered minor injuries in exchange of fire. Out of the slightly injured soldiers two of them were moved to a military hospital for medical treatment. As per the reports those two soldiers are stable.
