IDN TAKE: Bomb Damage Assessment Not Known, But Foreign Secretary's Brief Claims Large Number of Terrorists Killed
As per the desired mean point of strike action the Air Force carried audacious COVERT air strikes against JeM terror training camps deep into Pakistan and in PoK. The major strike took place in Balakot which is in the Khyber Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or (KPK) region, the other camps which suffered heavy losses are Muzaffarabad and Chakothi.
The foreign secretary went on to add it was a "non-military" preemptive strike against specific terror targets and specific action was taken to avoid collateral damage to the civilian population in the area. Interestingly, the word "non-military" word used by the foreign secretary in obvious reference to the fact that the offensive strikes were not a direct action against the Pakistani army (though they were the patrons of the terror factories in that country) but against specific terror targets.
The air strike, in which 12 Mirage-2000 jets took part, was carried around 3:30 am, IAF sources told ANI. The jets dropped 1000 Kg bombs on terror camps across the LoC (Line of Control), completely destroying them, sources added. Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) control rooms were also destroyed in the strikes.
The Indian action came 12 days after Pakistan-based JeM carried out a terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama in Kashmir, killing around 40 personnel and injuring five others. The terror attack had led to nationwide outrage, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had vowed to punish those behind the attack.
Entire world community expressed solidarity with India after the deadly terror attack. The US said it supports India's "Right to self-defence" in the back of the attack.
