Kalyani Rafael Systems To Expand Product Range

Hyderabad: Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems (KRAS), a joint venture between Kalyani Group and Rafael Systems of Israel, seeks to to provide a solutions approach in the defence and aerospace segment.
It has set up a facility for making anti-tank guided missile systems at the hardware park in Adibatla, and aims to expand its range of products and services.
It is also in the process of setting up an advanced training centre in collaboration with the Telangana Government.
B Ravindra Naidu, Associate Vice-President, Operations, KRAS told BusinessLine that the company was looking at the second phase of growth of the three operational units in Hyderabad.
These facilities include the Kalyani Rafael Systems defence systems manufacturing base at Hardware Park, Kalyani Centre for Technology Innovation at Gachibowli, and the centre for electronics that go into defence applications.
“We are not only looking at expanding the existing facilities but also scaling up our solutions for the defence sector. Apart from this we have decided to set up an advanced training centre for highly skilled professionals for the expanding defence and aerospace sector in collaboration with the Telangana Government,” said Naidu.
Missile Systems Facility
Speaking on the sidelines of a CII conference on defence and aerospace sector, Naidu said the company started its production facility last year and commissioned an anti-tank guided missile production facility.
This facility was set up to develop Spike missile, a fully guided anti-tank missile, barring explosives and propellants, and is considered to be the first of its kind by a private player.
The 24,000 sq ft facility can develop command control and guidance, electro-optics, remote weapon systems, precision guided munitions and system engineering for system integration.
