NSCN-IM Leader Thuingaleng Muivah Hospitalised, Split Likely In Khaplang Faction of NSCN
Muviah was admitted on Monday after he complained of uneasiness
GUWAHATI: Octogenarian Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary of NSCN-IM is admitted at a private hospital in New Delhi.
Muviah was admitted on Monday after he complained of uneasiness. A senior NSCN-IM leader, who does not want to be named, told ET, “It was a routine check-up. However doctors asked him to get admitted. Muviah will be released in next couple of days from the hospital. There is nothing to worry.”
Muviah is staying in New Delhi for some time now. The 84-year old Muivah signed the ‘Framework Agreement’ with the Government of India on August 3, 2015. The government on India has stated Indo Naga political dialogue has entered conclusive phase.
Isak Chishi Swu, the 87-year-old founder-member and chairman of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) passed away in 2016.
Meanwhile split is looming large on the Khaplang faction of NSCN. Dislodged chairman of Khaplang faction of NSCN, Khango Konyak along with his loyalists will form another front and may join the peace parleys with the government of India.
Konyak who was elected chairman last year after the death of octogenarian chairman of the outfit, S.S Khaplang was removed by the outfit recently.
Yung Aung a relative of Khaplang was elected as new chairman by a majority vote on August 17 in Myanmar.
A senior leader said that Indian origin Naga rebels may come with Khango. Khaplang faction in 2015 abrogated the 14 year old ceasefire with Government of India.
Konyak in a statement stated said that Yonghong led Pangmi sect had “wilfully seceded from NSCN and entered into an pact with Myanmar Union, thus forfeiting almost a century old Nagas struggle for sovereign independence.”
He added Nagas from India in particular cannot serve two masters and there cannot be two parallel NSCN in Nagaland. He said that since the Myanmar group had sought refuge under the Myanmar juntas, it would be a wastage of resources and unnecessary harassment to entertain them in any form i.e. politically, morally or materially. “The Nagas under Indian occupation cannot afford to continue to feed the Myanmar group despite the presence of few misguided leaders from Nagaland in their midst."
Khango led group alleged that the Myanmar group has been comfortably pursuing lucrative businesses worth millions in the form of road construction contracts, gold and jade mining, illicit opium trade and other extortion rackets.
It added Khango Konyak led NSCN shall never be bogged down by the usurpers. “If necessary every minute details of the Myanmar group secret treacherous deal with Myanmar Juntas at Nyapidaw shall be exposed before the Nagas and the world.”
