India To Observe 'Parakram Parv' On 2016 Surgical Strikes Anniversary
The Indian Armed Forces will observe ‘Parakram Parv’ from September 28 - 30 to mark the second anniversary of the surgical strikes against terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) and to “showcase the courage, valour and sacrifice of Armed Forces”.
“The Indian Army conducted surgical strikes in 2016 which had strategic ramifications and were aimed at dissuading the inimical adversary from adopting the path of violence and to ensure an environment of peace for the nation,” the Army said in a statement on Tuesday.
The main event is planned on the India Gate lawns at Rajpath in New Delhi. Similarly, 53 locations in 51 cities across the country will have events highlighting the valour of Indian Armed Forces in general and Special Forces in particular.
Visitors will get the opportunity to see captured weapons used by terrorists. In addition, military equipment like artillery guns and small arms will also be on display. Over the weekend, noted singers are scheduled to perform at the venue, as also the military band.
