Assam Module of Hizbul Mujahideen: Three Linkmen Arrested On Monday
GUWAHATI: Police is investigating if terror outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen has set up Assam module. Assam police on Monday arrested three linkmen of Hizbul Mujahideen in Assam from Nagaon and Jamunamukh.
Already police has arrested four Hizbul Mujahideen operatives hailing from Assam.
Lid was blown following arrest of Assam origin terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman by Uttar Pradesh police.
On Monday police arrested Saifudin brother of Qamar-uz-Zaman. He was produced in the court and was sent to 10 day police remand.
Pallab Bhattacharyya, special director general of police (special branch), told ET, “Police is interrogating Saifudin.”
Three linkmen arrested included Riazudin Bhuyan, Jainal Ahmad and Bharul Islam.
A team from Kanpur police visited Lanka police station. Police is trying to place various inputs together for Hizbul Mujahideen interest in Assam was for recruiting the youths or procuring arms.
Bhattacharyya, “We are analyzing various inputs as to for what this outfit was here.”
In past terror outfit Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) is had set up Assam module.
Several of its operative was arrested. Lower Assam district of Chirang was being used as training centre by this Jehadi terror outfit.
