Terrorists Killed In Baramulla Encounter Were Affiliated To Let: Army
Srinagar: The Indian Army on Friday said the five terrorists killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla were affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The encounter had taken place in Baramulla's Rafiabad area.
The encounter had lasted for close to 24 hours and ended on Thursday. Five terrorists were killed and a para-commando of the Indian Army was injured. The Indian Army said weapons and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
"Analysis of recovered items suggest that group belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba Tanzeem. They had probably infiltrated recently across the LoC from Pak occupied Kashmir," Brigadier DR Rai, Rashtriya Rifles, told the media today (August 10).
Reports said a joint team of the Army's 32 RR and commandos from 9 Para launched a cordon-and-search operation in the dense woods of the upper reaches of Rafiabad early Wednesday morning. The terrorists were believed to have recently infiltrated through Uri sector
Till Wednesday evening, 4 bodies were recovered but as per intelligence there were 5 terrorists and so the operation continued. On Thursday morning the body of another terrorist was recovered.
