NEW DELHI: The Congress members of the Lok Sabha on Friday entered the well of the House, shouted slogans against the Rafale fighter jet deal and demanded a probe into the purchase of the fighter jets by a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
The Congress action came even as finance minister Piyush Goyal was piloting the Bill to amend certain provision of the GST.
The Congress MPs alleged “scam’ in the fighter jet deal but many feel the party was demanding the JPC probe only in the fag end of the session only shows it is more aimed at firming up a campaign poll for the elections.
A verbal duel also broke out between Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge and Goyal with the latter challenging the Congress leader to contest in an election against him from Mumbai. This was in response to Kharge trying to score brownie point by saying Goyal has never fought an election.
