A joint team of the UP Anti Terror Squad (UPATS), West Bengal Police and the Noida Police on Tuesday arrested two Bangladeshi terrorists from the Surajpur locality of Gautam Budh Nagar in Noida.

Identified as Rubel Ahmed and Musharraf Hussain, both are natives of Bangladesh and belong to the banned terror outfit Jamat-ud Mujahiddin Bangladesh (JMB).

According to the ATS, both escaped Bangladesh due to the increasing pressure of the security forces in March this year and had been living in the Surajpur locality of Noida. Both Rubel and Musharraf were wanted in Bangladesh and the West Bengal police were hunting form them for the past few days using the help of intelligence agencies.

Terrorist group JMB was formed in 1998 by Sekikh Abdur Rehman and was banned in 2005 after setting off about 500 bombs simultaneously in Bangladesh.

According to top police sources, the duo was planning out major terror strikes in the National Capital Region (NCR).

"They have been interrogated further to ascertain as to what were their plans and who were their associates who were helping them in Noida and India," inspector Vishvajeet Singh of UPATS said.

More revelations in this regard can be made only after interrogation, officials said. When asked about more details of the two terrorists, he said both were active members of the JMB.
