Al-Badr Is Pakistan's New Weapon Against India In Kashmir: Home Ministry Report
In what can be called massive security threat for India, latest intelligence reports suggest that Pakistan’s ISI is putting all its might to strengthen Al-Badr, a little-known terror group, to carry out attacks in Kashmir.
The Home Ministry report hints at an extensive plot, where Al-Badr will carry out simultaneous attacks in both India and Afghanistan, which may help Pakistan to deflect any attention.
According to Zee Media’s Manish Shukla, Al-Badr has ‘recruited’ around 15 local men in Kashmir in last three months. Three of these 15 belong to Pulwama and Shopian. Last month, during a rally in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Al-Badr’s chief Bakt Zamin had said that the group will become ‘voice of Kashmir.’
In addition to this, the group had also released a video warning more attacks. In the video released on June 5, the self-styled Al-Badr commnader was seen apologizing to the local Kashmiris, who were injured in the grenade attack in Pulwama. The terrorist also claimed that Al-Badr had 100 men working for it and that it will recruit 200 in coming weeks.
Intel reports say Al-Badr is pulling all stops to fund the terror attacks in India and Afghanistan. A major chunk of the donation comes from skins of slaughtered animals during Bakrid (Eid-al Azha).
Other groups such as Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are also helping out Al-Badr. The terror group, which was initially active in Afghanistan began its India operations in 1998.
From funding to training, ISI relying on JeM, say the intel reports. In fact, the ISI has also set up new terror camps in PoK for Jaish-e-Mohammad. Masood Azhar’s outfit is very active in Kashmir and has set up a group on Telegram called Ansar-e-Jaish. According to the chatter decrypted by intel officers, Masood Azhar has claimed that JeM has widespread presense in India with his boys based in Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai.
The group is also very active on social media. In last six months, JeM has sent out over 500 WhatsApp and Telegram messages most of which are about Masood Azhar threatening India.
