26/11 plotter David Headley is battling for life in a US hospital. He was attacked in prison by two other inmates. He is reportedly admitted in the critical care unit and is under observation 24/7
David Headley, one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks is battling for his life after being attacked by two inmates at the Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Cente (MCC).
Headley was reportedly attacked on July 8 by two other inmates as he had been a double agent working with Pakistan and Islamist terror elements.
The injuries he suffered were grievous in nature and he had to be rushed to North Evanston hospital. He is reportedly admitted to the critical care unit and is under observation 24/7.
However, the US authorities refused to comment today on media reports that Headley was attacked by inmates at a detention centre.
"We are not able to locate information about this individual," the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago said in a brief email response to PTI when asked about the incident.
David Headley is a Pakistani-American who is currently imprisoned in the US after being convicted in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. On Monday, he deposed via video conferencing before a Mumbai court in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
David Coleman Headley, originally named Daood Sayed Gilani, was born in Washington, D.C. to Sayed Salim Gilani, a well-known Pakistani diplomat and broadcaster.
In January 2013, Headley was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in the Mumbai attacks. He is currently serving the same and had initially refused to depose before the Mumbai court.
