New Equipment For Indian Armed Forces: U.K. Media
India’s Defence Acquisition Council has approved the procurement of equipment worth more than $1.02 billion for the Indian armed forces, the Indian MoD announced on 28 May.
The equipment includes thermal imaging night sights for 84 mm rocket launchers of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, and long-range dual-band infrared imaging search and track systems (IRSTs) for the air force's Su-30MKI aircraft.
The thermal sights will be used by soldiers to facilitate accurate and continuous engagement of moving and static enemy targets, and destruction of field fortifications during complete darkness.
The IRSTs are able to operate in day and night conditions to enhance the capabilities of the Su-30MKI fighter.
