India Slams OIC For Raking Up Kashmir At Its Dhaka Meet
NEW DELHI: India on Thursday slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for raking up the Kashmir issue at its recent meeting in Dhaka, saying the bloc has no locus standi in the country's internal matters.
In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and asked the OIC to refrain from making such references.
"We observe with utmost regret as well as categorically reject the resolutions adopted by Organisation of Islamic Conference on Jammu and Kashmir at the 45th CFM (Council of Foreign Ministers) session of OIC in Dhaka held on May 5 to 6," it said.
The MEA said, "We affirm once again that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and the OIC has no locus standi in matters strictly internal to India. We advise OIC to refrain from such references."
The OIC meet had mentioned Jammu and Kashmir along with several other volatile regions and extended the group's solidarity for the demands of the people for sovereignty.
The OIC is a 57-nation grouping which claims to be the collected voice of Muslims across the world.
