Russia Showcases S-400, BUK, TOR Missile Systems At DEFEXPO 2018
Russia’s Almaz-Antey Group showcased S-400, Tor and Buk air defence missile systems at India’s Defexpo-2018 arms exhibition
CHENNAI: Russia’s Almaz-Antey Group showcased S-400, TOR and BUK air defence missile systems at DefExpo-2018 arms exhibition.
Defense products in the form of mock-ups and models enjoying demand in countries of the Asia-Pacific Region was on display: ground-based and seaborne air defence missile systems, including the S-400 Triumf, the S-300VM Antey-2500, the Tor-M2E, the Tor-M2K, the Tor-M2KM, the BUK-M2E, the Osa-AKM1, Rif-M, Shtil-1 and the Tunguska-M1 surface-to-air missile/gun complex.
"Our participation in this event is aimed at boosting the image of the company as a reliable supplier of exclusive defense products, and also at expanding the group of potential customers among countries of the south-eastern region," Almaz-Antey Deputy CEO for Foreign Economic Operations Vyacheslav Dzirkaln was quoted by the press office as saying.
During the arms exhibition, Almaz-Antey officials plan to hold a number of meetings and negotiations with representatives of government and business structures of India and other countries.
The S-400 Triumf is the most advanced long-range air defence missile system that went into service in Russia in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and can also be used against ground objectives.
The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
The Tor-M2 air defense missile system is an effective means to hit aircraft, helicopters, aerodynamic unmanned aerial vehicles, missiles and also other precision weapons flying at medium, low and extremely low altitudes in an adverse air and jamming environment.
The Tor-M2 is characterized by its high maneuverability, mobility, quick response, automation of combat operations and the efficiency of engaging a broad range of targets.
The BUK-M3 is the latest of the family of BUK medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.
