Dozens of Indian Armed Forces Personnel On Woman ISI Agent's Facebook Friends List
Woman ISI agent is found to be friends with scores of Indian security personnel on Facebook. She honey-trapped an Indian youth into spying for her. It isn't clear if she honey-trapped any other armed forces official.
The Facebook friends list of a woman ISI agent has left Haryana CID officials stunned, as it includes names of nearly four dozen officers from the Indian Army, Navy and Air force, as well as senior police officers.
The agent, Amrita Ahluwalia, honey-trapped a 22 year-old Indian youth - Gaurav Sharma - and obtained sensitive information about Indian defence forces from him.
Sharma was arrested recently.
Amrita Ahluwalia's Facebook friend-list includes a lieutenant-general, three colonels, three majors, a captain, a commander, a sergeant, an NDA trainee, and a jail superintendent in Jammu and Kashmir.
These officers are posted in various states like Himachal Pradesh, Haryana , Punjab, Rajasthan, New Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
The list also includes politicians, businessmen, teachers, and a Haryana government officer. The names haven't been revealed as an investigation is under way.
Ahluwalia's Facebook profile says she's from Chandigarh and lives in New Delhi. She has 145 friends, 15 of whom were added recently.
It isn't clear whether the ISI agent was able to honey-trap each one of her online acquaintances, but she obtained sensitive information from Gaurav Sharma, who she convinced to spy for her.
After the arrest, Sharma confessed that he spied on 18 recruitment drives of the Indian Army. Astonishingly, he was able to live-stream four of these drives to ISI handlers in Pakistan via Facebook Live.
He told police he was promised Rs 10 lakh from his handlers in Pakistan, but hasn't received any money from them.
Police sources told India Today that Ahluwalia used three Facebook IDs to communicate with Sharma.
She befriended Sharma, the son of a retired Army Jawan, and lured him into spying through sex chat on Facebook and WhatsApp. She also offered him money.
Gaurav's Facebook timeline shows a number of sensitive photographs. Some of them show him in military vehicles, while the others show him inside army bases.
Initial questioning has revealed that he had access to these security bases and vehicles.
Gaurav Sharma was arrested last Sunday and was remanded to four days in police remand. The court extended his police custody by two more days.
He tried to destroy his mobile phone at the time of the arrest, but it was confiscated by the police and sent for forensic examination to a lab in Gurgaon.
Amrita Ahluwalia sent a message to Sharma on Tuesday, but blocked him as he was arrested.
Police are trying to recover data from his phone, and hope to get more leads.
