India, China Agree On Maintaining Peace, Tranquility In Border Areas

India and China on Friday agreed that an early settlement of the boundary question serves the fundamental interests of both the countries.
At the Special Representative talks on the Boundary Question, the two sides agreed that pending the final resolution of the boundary question, it was necessary to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas. In this regard, the Special Representatives (SR) exchanged ideas on various confidence building measures.
The talks between two SRs marked their first engagement under the mechanism after the recent 73-day face-off at Doklam in the Sikkim Sector.
